Quantitative Optical Gas Imaging System for GF620/GFx320/GF320

The QL320 is a quantitative optical gas imaging (QOGI) system that allows surveyors to measure the leak rates for methane and other hydrocarbons. This eliminates the need for secondary sampling with a toxic vapor analyzer or similar tool. In addition, the QL320 does not require close contact with the gas in order to measure emission rates, making it a safer solution for quantifying difficult-to-measure gas leaks.

The FLIR QL320 lifts your FLIR GF320, GFx320, Gx320, GF620, Gx620 or G620 camera to a level where recorded sequences give you an indication of the flow rate of the visualized gas leak. A powerful software algorithm, designed by Providence Photonics and sold exclusively through FLIR, enables simple use of the QL320 in the field for immediate results or as a post processing device when combined with Q-Mode from a FLIR OGI camera. Make the right decisions, based on leak rate indications rather than pure visualization. The included background validation checks for appropriate Delta T conditions as a requirement for accurate OGI results. Overall the FLIR QL320 is an easy to use in-field solution for those who want to visualize and quantify gas leaks in one working step.

Key features

  • FLIR Branding & support
  • Q-Mode compatible (does not require the QL320 to be “tethered” to the camera)
  • Can now quantify leaks in terms of ppm*m (CL)
  • Isopleth display of concentration profile where the color indicates the concentration density.
  • Ability to measure concentration in a region of the FOV, in ppm*m.
  • Single image snapshot with the colorized plume overlay and the 10-second rolling average result as an overlay on the image.
  • Quantifies mass leak rates, volumetric leak rates and CL leak rates
  • Gas colorization
  • Delta T Screening tool
  • Ruggedized IP65 Touch Screen Tablet
  • Archiving
  • Ability to perform multiple ”notches” on the plume extraction ring

Response Factor Calculations

How well the FLIR QL320 quantifies a specific gas compound is a function of how sensitive the camera is to that gas. This can be measured relative to a reference compound, with the resulting value called Response Factor (RF). For example, say an RF value for benzene is 0.755 in reference to propane (propane value = 1.000). This means when a FLIR OGI camera visualizes benzene, the image is 75% as strong as an image of propane. An RF value below 1.0 would signify a potentially weaker image, while an RF value above 1.0 signifies a stronger image (e.g. an RF of 1.75 means the image is 75% stronger).
